Overview: This is the first entry in a five-part wuxia film series (1927-31) from the Youlian Film Company and director/co-star Wen Yimin. Actress Fan Xuepeng is He Yufeng, a swordswoman known as “Thirteen Sister” who leads a band of heroes tasked with defeating a group of immoral monks who pray on innocent women. She ends up marrying An Ji (Wen Yimin), a scholar and the son of a high-ranking official. The pair’s onscreen romance transferred off screen and the two ended up married in real life.
